What does the Georgia law say about lifting a truck? 

According to law.justia.com, Georgia state law states that it’s not legal to “alter the suspension system of any private passenger motor vehicle which may be operated on any public street or highway more than two inches above or below the factory recommendation for any such vehicle.” In short, two inches is the legal limit for lifting a truck unless factory recommendations say otherwise.

There is another law that specifies how tall a vehicle can be from the ground to the bottom of the frame. In other words, it tells you how high a truck can be lifted. This law is based on truck weight. Heavier trucks can be taller, which is probably a safety precaution to prevent a truck from flipping over. Here’s what you need to know.

• Trucks of 7,500 pounds GVWR or less can’t exceed 30 inches from street level to frame.
