In what situation could I replace one single tire? 

The only situation where you might replace a single tire is if you get a flat tire on a fairly new set of tires. If your tires have rarely been driven on, you won’t need to replace four or even two tires, but usually, this isn’t the case. Keep reading to learn why you should usually replace two or four tires. 

Why can’t I replace just one tire on my vehicle? 

When you drive on your tires, they are constantly being worn down and made smaller. If you get regular tire rotations, all four tires should wear at about the same rate, preventing any issues. However, if you were to add a new tire into the mix, you’d have two different tire sizes on your vehicle, which can lead to issues with your tires and other internal components.  

The dangers of replacing one tire in an AWD vehicle 

If you replace a single tire on your AWD vehicle, you’ll be putting more strain on your drivetrain, and the traction control system may believe that you’re losing traction due to the difference in tire traction. This can lead to more expensive repairs down the line.  

How many tires should I swap out?
