How to Save Money When Renting a Car
1. Pick Your Spot
First, find out where you want to park. If you’re just starting out, make sure to pick a spot with plenty of space. You can try tighter spots when you’re more comfortable with the process.
2. Check Your Surroundings (1)
Before making your next move, check your surroundings. Make sure you’re aware of traffic in front of and behind you, as well as any pedestrians in the area. Check your rearview mirror, side mirrors, and blind spots.
3. Line It Up
A parallel park takes place between 2 cars on the side of a road, a front car and a back car. To begin the actual process of a parallel park job, pull off to the side and make your car match the position of the front car, making it parallel. Additionally, you should leave about 2 to 3 feet between your car and the front car.
4. Check Your Surroundings (2)
Repeat Step 2. Check your surroundings, mirrors, and blind spots again.

5. Put Your Car in Reverse
Whether you’re driving an automatic or manual car, shift your car into Reverse and keep your foot on the brake pedal.
6. Reverse (Slowly)
Take your foot off the brake pedal and begin to slowly reverse in a straight line.
7. Begin to Turn
When the front bumper of your car is lined up with the back axle of the front car, turn your steering wheel all the way to the right.
8. Angle In
Once you have turned your steering wheel all the way to the right, continue to back up until your car is at a 45° angle between the front and back cars.
9. Turn Back
Now, turn your steering wheel all the way to the left and back up your vehicle until the back bumper of your car is in place.
10. Straighten Out
With the back of your car in place, turn your steering wheel back to its normal position, switch to Drive, and pull forward slowly to straighten out your car and tires between the front and back car.
Parallel Park: Complete
After that, put your car in Park and relax. You’re all done.
